The Reconciliation Committee which was established by the order of Ramzan Kadyrov, head of Chechen Republic, continues its work and makes peace between stormy families. But have you ever wondered that how they conduct these reconcilitation ceremonies?

All the Caucasian nations, no matter what religion they confess, follow traditions of a blood feud. But it has always been considered that blood feud in Chechnya is practised more than in any other region of Russia. However, the blood feuds in Chechnya are clearing up in these days with the efforts of Ramzan Kadyrov. Here is a short photo report on this topic.

The process of reconciliation gathers a great many of people from both conflict sides. Sometimes their quantity reaches several thousand people. But this reconciliation is in a small mountainous town so there are not so many people there.

During the procedure of reconciliation relatives of the “offender” give him to the other side. He is usually shrouded in a cloak, not clean-shaved and wears black. If he is forgiven, relatives of the “victim” relieve him of his cloak, open his face and let him go. And since that moment the blood feud stops.
